The 2024 edition of the Observatory on the transformations of the Italian automotive ecosystem provides an updated picture of the effects of the ongoing technological transformation on the Italian supply chain companies. The survey is designed to provide evidence both on the segments of the supply chain that experience technological lag and on their needs for reconversion, and on the companies already active in components for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. The data show that the growth of this latter segment of the ecosystem, together with the resilience of many traditional suppliers whose product portfolio is neutral towards the ongoing transformation, is allowing the supply chain as a whole to contain the reduction in employment induced primarily by the evolution of demand.
The survey presents useful evidence to guide industrial policy actions capable of curbing the decline of the sectors most exposed to technological change and fostering the development of the Italian supply chain as a whole and in the territorial insights that have been integrated into this survey.
