Boris Vinogradov (University of Nantes), "The French automotive industry and Russia from 1954 to 2014". Discussant : Jean-Pierre DURAND (University of Evry, CPN)
Abstract: The French automotive industry has been present in Russia for over a century. French manufacturers have maintained their presence on the Russian market, despite the many upheavals that the country has experienced through the 20th century. This paper summarises a phd defended in January 2021 in which the author studies the activities of French automotive companies in Russia in the years 1954 - 2014. The study covers two distinct periods: Soviet and post-Soviet era and shows a continuity in the strategy of French car manufacturers on the Russian market.
Juliette Ronsin (ENS Ulm, IHMC), "Les trajectoires des ouvriers Ygoslaves à Sochaux-Montbéliard au prisme des recrutements par Peugeot des années 1960 à nos jours". Discussant : Juan Sebastian CARBONELL (Gerpisa, ENS Paris-Saclay, IDHES)
Summary: In the framework of a thesis entitled "The (post-)Yugoslav immigration at Sochaux-Montbéliard from 1965 to the present day", under the supervision of Claire Zalc, I study the conditions in which the history of the Peugeot company and the individual and collective trajectories of (post-) Yugoslav immigrants met. The Yugoslav workers were hired through the National Immigration Office from 1965 onwards, when the Peugeot company was recruiting more workers in a period known as the 'Trente Glorieuses'. How does the collective aspect of these wave recruitments relate to the individual aspect of the trajectories? The Yugoslav workers were recruited as temporary workers and were therefore only expected to stay in France temporarily. How did this temporary aspect of their stay in France impact on their settlement in the Montbéliard region? In order to answer these questions, my research is based firstly on a historical approach, with the consultation of archive documents, in particular staff registration registers and foreigners' files. In a more sociological approach, I am also interested in spaces located 'outside the factory', in order to better understand the 'working class condition'. The use of a database and quantitative methods allows me to reveal singularities or recurrences among the trajectories of Yugoslav workers. In a more qualitative approach, interviews with former workers are finally complementary.
Nial TEKIN (Humboldt University, Humanities and social change Centre): "The organisation of work in a UET in a Renault factory: The particularities of the organisation of work in Turkey". Discussant : Tommaso PARDI (Gerpisa, CNRS-IDHES)
Abstract: In this paper, we will present the data collected/produced during a research at a Renault factory located in Turkey. The main focus of the paper will be on the implementation of the form of work organization in TEU. We assume that changes in work organisation are not linear and remain partly specific to the country of implementation. In this context, the text will discuss the particularities of the fieldwork in question.
Ghada BOUILLASS (Mines ParisTech-PSL): "The social and socio-economic stakes of electric mobility: the perception of the different stakeholders". Discussant: Yannick PEREZ (CentraleSupélec, LGI)
Abstract: Conventional transport systems are considered as a major source of environmental pollution (climate change, eutrophication, acidification, depletion of non renewable resources, etc.). In France, 29% of greenhouse gas emissions are linked to transport. Faced with the increase in negative environmental effects, electric mobility looks like a promising alternative that could take over from current transport technologies on a more or less large scale and thus contribute to energy transition. However, several questions arise today regarding the sustainability of these emerging alternatives. A vision projected on the three dimensions of sustainable development is therefore essential in order to take into account the social and socio-economic issues of these systems. This presentation proposes an approach in terms of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). This is a multi-stage and multi-criteria method that follows a standardised methodological framework according to ISO 14044 (ISO 14044 2006). This approach allows the assessment of the impacts generated by products, technologies and services throughout their life cycle phases, from raw material extraction through production, transport and use to end-of-life.
