I met Jorge during the first international Gerpisa congresses—the very first one was held in La Défense. We shared the common bond of being from the periphery (a term I prefer over 'emerging countries'). We used to laugh about the differences in mindset when comparing ourselves to the Europeans. He always tried to speak Portuguese, while I tried to speak Spanish. My fondest memory of him is his sheer joy—he was always laughing, no matter what.
