Résumé:

The Ford Motor Company suffered greatly in the recent global recession. However, unlike its two fellow American OEMs, General Motors and Chrysler, it did not undergo bankruptcy. Rather, thanks to management's building up a "war chest" of cash in advance, the company survived the crisis and even emerged from it arguably stronger than its two domestic rivals, despite their having "washed" debt out of their balance sheets. This presentation, which is the basis for the Ford chapter in the next GERPISA book, will go into detail as to how Ford survived, what its outlook for the future is, and the strengths and weaknesses it brings to that future. Particular emphasis will be paid to the role of the CEO during this time, Alan Mulally.
