Abstract:

Why some stakeholders try to convince others that there is an american model for restructuring ?

1. We focus on the main changes in the geography of European car production and on why the « American model » is presented today as a solution to the European crisis (overcapacity)
2. We contest this view by looking at:
The markets’ structure and evolution in EU 15 (Western) and EU 12 (Eastern)
The impact of European public policies both on industries’ and markets’ dynamics
3. We suggest that another model is possible
